White (b 1885) was a physician educated at Columbia and a professor of hygiene at Florida State College for Women. White discusses the evolution of women and their roles culminating in the "proportionate woman" who "has risen to the height of the civilization of which she ius a member ... the only claim she advances ... is freedom to work, to develop a richer, wider, deeper, personality ..." White sees "the endless possibilities in the renewal of a worn-out civilization by this new representative of humanity."
