Ecton was employed in the first-fruits department of the office of Queen Anne's Bounty where he was the receiver of the tenths of the clergy. Seven editions of this appeared between 1723 and 1796. This is a complete lists of the rectories and Churches throughout Gt. Britain with the amount owed by the parish to the crown and the amount of a subsidy that would be offered to the poorer of the clergy who could not afford the taxes. An interesting compilation outlining the figures of an early system to redistribute finances.
