With the mailing label that reads: Peace and Joy " from Eric and Barbara Carle. This addressed to Mrs. and Mrs. William Jay Smith. He was appointed the nineteenth Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress from 1968 to 1970 and a friend of the Carles. This was the Christmas card that Carle sent to friends.
