Boston: Crosby and Nichols, 1850. First edition, thus. 8vo, pp. 403. Bound in heavily gilt stamped red cloth (spine cloth loose, front cover nearly separate). AEG. Inscribed on the end paper "To Mary | with the love of E. B. Hall | Providence | May 21, 1857". (note, the copyright is listed in the name of E. B. Hall, Hall's husband). In addition,this is inscribed: "from C(harlotte) P(erkins) Gilman | to Alice Park | April 1916 | to Harriet Putnam Cramer | Aug - 1916" (probably in the hand of Alice Park? or maybe Gilman?). Note: we have had this book since 1990 (!) and have never been able to figure out the relationships of the recipients. Time to move it on. Item #59987
Cramer was probably the daughter of Alice Park who is described as an ardent suffragist ... [who] did good publicity work for the Woman's Party ... Louisa Jane Park was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts, on February 7, 1802 and married Rev. Edward B Hall in 1840.
