Murray traveled through Canada, down to Boston and New England, through New York, the South, etc. She talks about slavery, woman's mission, Cuba and the like. Murray (1795-1884) traveled to the US to study Botany and social questions. As a Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Victoria she was well treated wherever she went. However, when she returned home and published this work lauding slavery, her book became a best seller for the wrong reasons and she was dismissed from the court.
