Agassiz (1822-1907) was the first president of Radcliffe College. The wife of renowned Swiss naturalist Louis Agassiz, she was the scribe of the Hassler Expedition through the Strait of Magellan (1871-72). She published a biography of her husband in 1885. She worked to establish Radcliffe from 1882 and became its first President in 1893.
