The Swedish feminist was one of the best known and most influential Swedish women in the nineteenth century. She was a novelist, social worker and traveler. She traveled throughout the US for two years. While in Philadelphia, she toured the city with Sarah Josepha Hale as a guide, and heard Lucretia Mott speak. She traveled extensively in the south, entering it via the Ohio River.
