A debate on child custody and property rights of women in divorce cases. The D'Hautevilles were married in Switzerland, where by the laws of the Canton, a wife is obliged to live with her husband wherever he thinks proper to reside and the husband has absolute exclusive guardianship over any children born of said marriage. When Mrs. D'Hauteville returned to her native Boston, her husband sued for custody of their son. The wife won.
